Most of the times I get Hot waxing done at parlours.
Hot waxing method involves heating the wax to a comfortable temperature. A thin layer of wax is spread onto the area to be treated in the direction of the hair growth. Once the wax is cooled it is quickly torn off, in the opposite direction of the hair growth, and the hair is removed with it.
Cold Waxing method -Cold wax strips are available in various shapes and size so you can use them for removing hair from eyebrow to legs. In India Ayur skin range had introduced this cold wax which comes in a tub like hot wax, the procedure to use it almost the same, except for the fact that it shouldn't be heated & should be applied directly.
When the two waxing methods are compared then it is observed that in hot waxing method the wax adheres better to hairs. But cold wax doesn’t adhere that well to the hair shafts.
My skin is very sensitive & whenever I get the Hot wax done, it develops rashes, reddish bumps, applying ice on the affected area subsides the irritation but the skin looks inflamed for few days. So I decided to try this Ayur Cold Wax at home.
What does Ayur Claim about this wax: Gently removes unwanted hair. Unique formulation of lemon, vinegar and sugar that slows down re-growth of hair and revitalizes the skin by keeping the skin soft, smooth and supple. Hot Wax should be heated, prior to use.
Ingredients: Sucrose, Sorbitol, Aqua,Glycerine, Citric, Methyl Paraben, Propyl Paraben, Fragrance
How to use the Ayur Cold Wax : First clean the skin and wipe it dry. Apply the wax with a blunt knife in the direction of the hair growth. Place the cellophane strip over the wax, press down firmly and pull the strip with a jerk, in the opposite direction of hair growth. These cellophene strips are hygienic to use. Finally clean the skin with water to remove wax stains and apply Ayur Astringent Lotion
Price: Rs.35 INR for 150g
My Experience: I have used it so many times & it does help in getting hair removed. The only problem I faced was getting the wax out of the container & applying it. Unlike the hot wax, the cold wax doesn't spread easily on the skin. One needs to have a lot of patience to take it out of the container & spreads it well, it takes a lot of time in spreading. The cellophene strips are good for nothing, they are very small & short.
Reasons why I adore this cold wax:
1. Doesn't irritate my skin or cause inflammation.
2. Hair that grows back is fine.
3. No overwhelming fragrance. This smells like sugar syrup.
4.Doesn't involve the task of heating the wax.
5. Decently priced.
6. Packaging is simple, this comes in a tub with a spatula.
7.Easily available at regular beauty stores.
Reasons why I abhor this cold wax:
1. The whole procedure consumes a lot of time.
2. Application can seem messy because of the stickness.
3. The short cellophene strips are not effective in removing hair. I use the regular soft paper strips that most parlours use.
4. If the lid of the jar is not pressed properly , it can attract ants ;-)
Will I reccomend this cold wax: This is not suitable for busy women because it's a time consuming & tiring task. If you have sensitive skin & have ample amount of time, you could give it a try. But if you are busy person & don't have sensitive skin, going to a parlour & getting it done is the best solution.
