Picture Polish Blog Fest- Razzle Dazzle & Electric Blue

I have got the wonderful opportunity to be part of the International Picture Polish Blog Fest scheduled for July 25th 2011& I’m so elated about it. Unfortunately I’m on vacation & wouldn’t be able to do a complete review of the nail colors so here’s a small review of the nail colors that were sent out to me as part of the Picture Polish Blog Fest throughout the world.

Picture Polish was created when two girls dream't of giving their family & friends a thank you gift that would capture a special occasion. What better way to relive a moment than with a personalised nailpolish, that was quirky & vibrant, that stands out from the rest!

So without further ado, I'll go ahead & tell you about the nail colors :))

The first one is like transparent polish with some micro glitter, its called Razzle Dazzle & looks great. This would be apt for those occasions when you don’t feel like applying dark pigmented nail colors. This can be used as top coat on your regular nail polishes if you feel the need for shimmer on your nails.

The second one is nice pigmented matte blue color which is called Electric Blue, it looks great when you are out for clubbing or partying. It’s got a nice brush that makes the application smooth without any mess. The color doesn’t streak  & is quite opaque if 3 coats are applied, but starts to fade in 3-4 days but considering that I do the usual household chores, I think this wouldn’t be the same for others who don’t do the chores. The only thing I don’t like about such pigmented colors is that they stain the nails even after you apply a base coat, but can’t help it since most of the dark colors I have used stain the nails & removing the color becomes a tedious task.

I  like the nail colors a lot & hope you like them too!
Do visit the picture polish website www.picturepolish.com.au to a have look at the wonderful nail color collection.
P.S : This is a scheduled post since I’m on a vacation.

Dermalogica Gentle Cream Exfoliant

According to Dermalogica: This is a gentle non-abrasive exfoliation treatment that removes dulling debris, dramatically improving skin texture. Not recommended for users of medically prescribed exfoliation products. Contacts no artificial fragrance or color.
How to use: Apply a thin layer over cleansed skin, avoiding the lip and nostril area. Use care around the delicate eye area as well. Mild stinging may occur  but should dissipate quickly.Let activate for 10 to 15 minutes. Rinse well with warm water. Use once or twice weekly or as recommended.
How it works:
·         Provides chemical exfoliation with the convenience of a two in one masque/exfoliation treatement.
·         Lactic acid & salicylic acid slough off dead skin cells, speeding cell renewal.
·         Extracts of Lavender, Aloe vera & Coneflower help soothe skin.
Ingredients: Water (Aqua), Diatomaceous Earth, Butylene Glycol, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Kernel Oil, Papain, Bromelain, Steareth-21, Steareth-2, Cetearyl Alcohol, Salicylic Acid, Sodium Magnesium Silicate, Lactic Acid, Sulfur, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Centaurea Cyanus Flower Extract, Citrus Medica Limonium (Lemon) Fruit Extract, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Flower Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Polysorbate 80, Disodium EDTA, Benzyl PCA, Phenoxyethanol, Linalool, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891).

Price: Available in 75ml size for the price of Rs.2530

My Experience:
Packaging: The exfoliant comes in the standard Dermalogica packaging. It’s a white colored tube with a grey colored flip cap & looks very nice to carry around.
Texture: The exfoliant looks like a thick white colored mask & after application it does look like a white thick cream smeared over the skin. To put it in a precise way, I would say it looks the same way how a crème bleach when applied on the skin looks.

Fragrance: The fragrance is not so pleasant! It isn’t bad but it difficult to describe how it smells.
Exfoliation: This exfoliant is not like the regular exfoliants with granules to scrub away dirt but this is a gentle mask without any granules. Once applied it form a thick layer over the skin & within few seconds one starts to feel a mild stinging sensation & since we keep this for 10-15 minutes the thick masque gradually gets absorbed & leaves behind a thin layer which can be easily washed away. After washing away the masque, I found the skin little brighter as if it has removed some amount of tan from the skin, but since I have dry skin, I left me little dry & I had to use a moisturiser after using the exfoliant. I’m sure regular usage would make the skin brighter.

Dermalogica special cleansing gel

I have received these samples from Dermalogica long time back & have used them for a considerable amount of time & thought it was time to write my experience using them.

A little about how Dermalogica was formed: While the Dermalogica story begins in 1986, the force of change in the industry started in Los Angeles, circa 1983. Jane Wurwand, a tenured, United Kingdom-trained skin therapist new to the American “esthetician” industry, recognized that continuing skin and body therapy education was practically non-existent in the United States. While her training had been comprehensive and serious, US students entered the industry licensed yet under-trained, and worse, under- respected.
Jane put her education in action, opening a small classroom in Marina del Rey, California under the name The International Dermal Institute (IDI). She invited licensed skin therapists to get hands-on with the postgraduate training so critical to making them competitive in the business. Today, IDI is considered the international gold-standard for postgraduate skin and body therapy training with over 40 locations worldwide.
While teaching at IDI, it didn’t take long for Jane to realize no product line embraced her belief of skin health as opposed to “beauty,” so she developed her own. And in 1986, Dermalogica was born.

Dermalogica special cleansing gel is a Concentrated, soap-free, foaming gel designed to thoroughly remove impurities without disturbing the skin's natural moisture balance. Contains no artificial fragrance or color.

How to use: Gently lather a small amount of the gel in moistened hands & apply to dampened face & throat. Rinse with warm water.

How it works: This soap-free botanical blend of Quillaja Saponaria &calming Lavender foams away impurities without leaving the skin feeling tight or dry, while super-soothing Balm Mint calms
sensitivity.

Ingredients: Water (Aqua), Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Disodium Lauroamphodiacetate, Sodium Trideceth Sulfate, Hexylene Glycol, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Extract, Melissa Officinalis Leaf Extract, Quillaja Saponaria Bark Extract, PPG-5-Ceteth-20, Citric Acid, Sodium Chloride, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil.

Available in 250 & 500 ml

My Experience with the Dermalogica special cleansing gel:

Packaging: This cleansing gel comes in classy white colored bottle with a greyish colored cap.
Texture: It's a clear liquid gel which is runny in texture & lathers good enough.
Fragrance: It is not too scented, just has a hint of mint which isn't too over-powering. My skin is very sensitive to scented products but I'm glad this was very mild & didn't irritate my skin.
Cleansing : This clear gel lathers well & cleanses the skin to get rid of dirt & grime & gives you squeaky clean feeling. It is non-irritating gel & rinses off easily & doesn't leave a film behind. One just need a small amount of it to cleanse the face & the neck, so a single bottle will come a long way.

Mositurising:  Though it says it is suitable for all skin conditions, I think this would suit Oily-Combination skin. People with dry skin will find this little drying & may have to lock up the moisture with a good moisturising cream. The company suggests after cleansing this has to be followed by Multi active Toner & Dermalogica moisturiser. It will not bother sensitive skin & people with oily skin would love to use this during summer.
Price: It's a higher end product, priced at Rs.2000 for 250 ml & Rs. 3215 for 500ml
